 FAQs for The Early Years, What Really Matters

The Early Years - What Really Matters is a two-day workshop on preparation and delivery of great lessons, creating a classroom environment for effective learning and managing the workload. 

 What Standard Descriptors are met

The course addresses the following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, Descriptors: 3.1.2, 3.2.2, 4.2.2, 4.3.2, 6.2.2 and 7.4.2.

 Who is the workshop designed to benefit

This course is a practical workshop designed to support classroom teachers in the first years of their career.

 What is the format of the workshop

It is a 2-day workshop providing 11.5 hours of professional learning. The workshop will be delivered through presentation, group discussions, individual and collaborative development of resources. Participants will leave the course with a greater sense of confidence, new ideas, resources and strategies ready for immediate implementation in their classroom.

 What will all participants gain from attending the course

The Early Years, What Really Matters will assist early career teachers to grow in confidence and feel supported as an educator. They will join a learning community, reduce any sense of isolation and collaborate to developing effective classroom strategies for implementation within their own classroom.

 Course Objectives

As a participant, you will:

  • Engage in discussion, based on current research, relating to the following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers - Descriptors: 3.1.2, 3.2.2, 4.2.2, 4.3.2, 6.2.2 and 7.4.2.
  • Expand your toolbox with practical and workable strategies to create an effective learning environment;
  • Develop strategies to create a productive classroom that minimise challenging behaviours in your students;
  • Consider the elements of great teaching and learning and their application to your classroom;
  • Identify strategies that support your healthy physical and emotional well being;
  • Create effective processes to manage your workload in a time-wise manner.

 Workshops will be held in both Regional and City locations (link to locations)

Time: 9:00am - 3:30pm (both days)

What to bring: Device - tablet or laptop, a small unit of work that you will teach in the coming weeks

Food: Morning tea and a light lunch will be provided. Dietary requirements and special needs will be accommodated.

Cost: Individual registration for permanent or temporary teachers $550

2 or more teachers from the same school $500 per teacher

 Payment: When you register to attend the course, we will be sent an invoice to both your school or to you.
