K-6 Inquisitive One-Day Workshop

Teachers who book to attend this one-day workshop will participate in two sessions:

1. Inquisitive About Visible Thinking?

Inquisitive about Visible Thinking?  is a course for teachers who want their students to learn through discovery, discussion, collaboration and  implementation of Visible Thinking Routines. This workshop uses Inquisitive resources. 

In this session, teachers will:

  • Develop an understanding of the research of Harvard Graduate School of Education through Project Zero and its use in the classroom.
  • Participate in collaborative activities to discuss and develop ways to improve students’ skills (problem solving, critical and creative thinking)  that are applicable to all KLAs by selecting and using appropriate Visible Thinking Routines that engage their students in the learning process.
  • Gain the confidence to create and/or adapt a range of resources to include Visible Thinking Routines, using Inquisitive resources to improve and enliven each student’s connection to the content and increase student engagement.
  • Collaborate with peers to make their own thinking visible to their students as a new classroom culture is developed.

 2. Inquisitive About Differentiation?

Inquisitive about Differentiation?  is a course for teachers  are looking to extend their knowledge and develop their creativity to plan learning experiences that meet their students' diverse needs. This workshop uses Inquisitive resources. 

In this session, teachers will:

  • Appreciate the research basis for differentiating student learning experiences, the diverse needs of students, scope of responses to these needs, methods for adjustment of lessons and alternate authentic assessment models.
  • Develop their understanding of the many facets of the purpose, methods and assessment basis for Differentiation based on the research out of the Institutes on Academic Diversity, Curry School of Education, University of Virginia.
  • Consider best-practice examples of differentiated learning experiences for a diverse range of student needs using Inquisitive resources.
  • Explore ways to adapt instruction to accommodate student differences.
